No Urgency blocking BlackBerry

AFP - Jakarta, Discourse
blocking BlackBerry in Indonesia had heated up and
make users uneasy,
application developers, distributors, and of course
partner operator service access provider in Indonesia.
On Twitter, Menkominfo Tifatul Sembiring
targeted citizen unrest and resentment
cyberspace related discourses such as
by blocking the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabian
.
"we think may be too much if the Indonesian government
bandwagon
ordered to block the BlackBerry service," said
Group Head of VAS and Brand Marketing Indosat
Teguh Prasetya, to ITGazine, Thursday
(08/05/2010).
"Because there is no significant complaints from the stakeholders
BlackBerry services in Indonesia, either
users, providers, vendors, partners,
and regulators," said Teguh. The access network

BlackBerry services in Indonesia is estimated to have touched
total number of 1.5 million customers from six operators
in partnership with Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry
as principals.
Six operators that provide access to the BlackBerry
are Indosat, Telkomsel, XL
Axiata, Natrindo Cellular Phone (Axis),
Hutchison CP Telecom (Tri), and Smart Telecom.
Of the six operators that, none of which
feel have been sent notification or
letter commands to perform blocking of
Ministry of Communications and Informatics.
"We have not received notification
about this from the government.
However, in principle, we as operators are subject to
on regulations set by the regulator," said
Febriati Nadira, Head of Corporate Communication
XL.
"But we call for problems blocking access to the BlackBerry this

should consider the technological capabilities and

balance with other interests," he continued.
The Indonesian government itself has asserted
will not block access to BlackBerry services, such as policy adopted
UAE and Arab
Arabia. Therefore, the blockade must be viewed from
level of urgency and a strong legal basis.
"We need to straighten out a misunderstanding that developed
.'s Not true that we have
said it would block the BlackBerry," said
Head of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics
, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, when confirmed.
"We were never asked RIM for want
open access data and build its server-
in Indonesia. But we just simply
calling, not directly
threaten to block," he added.
